Spring Has Sprung - March 2022 News

WELCOME, ZACH BASYE!

WELCOME, ZACH BASYE!

WELCOME, ZACH BASYE!

The Treynor Golf Course welcomes its new superintendent, Zach Basye. Zach is from Glenwood and is well known throughout Southwest Iowa as an avid golfer. Zach attended Peru State College and graduated with a degree in education. He taught history in Bellevue, NE for several years; however, his love of the “links” led him back to golf course management. Zach began working at the Glenwood Golf Course when he was 14, and he continued to be part of the Glenwood grounds crew for many years. He most recently was groundskeeper/superintendent at Harlan Country Club. Zach is excited to begin his new position, and he looks forward to meeting the Treynor Golf Course members.

If you see him, stop and tell Zach hello and welcome him to the TRA Family!

RULES & ETIQUETTE

WELCOME, ZACH BASYE!

WELCOME, ZACH BASYE!

There are many rules of golf, some by the USGA and some that are by course. There are also the "rules of etiquette" that are important to the game of golf. See our rules section for TRA basic rules & etiquette. See the USGA site for all rules and interpretations. We do want to stress a couple of important rules here:

*No more than 4 players per group - NO EXCEPTIONS! Any member reserves the right to call you out on this.

*You cannot bring your own alcohol to the golf course. If you do, you will be asked to leave the course and could lose your membership. This rule is the law and the TRA risks losing their liquor license if any violation is found.

GOLF CART RULES

WELCOME, ZACH BASYE!

CLUBHOUSE IS OPEN

You must be a licensed driver to lease or rent a TRA golf cart. If you rent a cart, you are accepting responsibility for any damages. You are not allowed to let your under-age children operate a TRA golf cart even if you are with them. You will also be required to leave your driver's license with the staff in the Clubhouse before you take a cart and may be subject to an inspection before your license is returned. TRA Carts should never leave TRA property.

Members who lease a golf cart should know that if you are playing with another member that has a lease, you may be required to share a cart.  Also note, your lease covers carts during regular play of golf (tournaments and outings are extra similar to playing fees).

Member-owned golf carts can only be operated by licensed drivers on side streets during daylight hours and must obey all traffic laws.

The Clubhouse is officially open for business as of March 16th. Ronda is back as Manager this year and will have daily lunch specials on most weekdays. Check the Facebook page for specials.

The weather may affect the course and/or clubhouse being open. If in doubt, call the Clubhouse first to check.

CLEAN UP DAY

Mark your calendars for golf course clean-up day on Saturday, April 2nd. Plan to come at 8 a.m. to help pick-up sticks, mulch around new tee box signs and assist in general clean-up of the course. Bring your tools and gloves and then stay for lunch provided by the Club.

Speaking of new tee box signs: If you haven't seen them yet, check them out .. they look great!!

MEMBERSHIP DUES

Don't forget to pay your membership dues soon. You must pay them in full before playing.

Also, please remember you need to sign-in at the clubhouse before playing. This will help the staff get to know you and allows them to be aware of the number of golfers on our course.

Etiquette & Basic Rules of Golf

  • Do not play with more than four per group.
  • Check in at Clubhouse before playing.
  • Start on the first hole.
  • Play at a reasonable pace. The average pace of play is 2 hours or less for 9 holes.
  • Let faster players play through.
  • Repair ball marks, replace divots (add pre-mixed sand if available) and rake bunkers.
  • Don't park on or too close to the putting green (stay at least 30 feet away from the fringe of green).
  • Have the player who is furthest away from the pin hit first on each shot.
  • Have your own golf clubs (no more than 14 clubs in your bag, which includes your putter).
  • Put an identifying mark on your golf ball. This will help you avoid playing the wrong ball and incurring a penalty.
  • Don't move or talk while someone in your group is hitting the ball or about to hit.
  • Don't walk across the line of another player's putt on the green.
  • Don't hit your shots until the group in front of you is well out of range. Say FORE! if you happen to hit into a group.
  • Don't ever play when lightening is in the area.
  • Don't spend more than 3 minutes looking for a lost ball.
  • For more rules, check out the USGA Rules of Golf.
